Barbara Meyer zu Altenschildesche and Wilhelm Kohl our the world renowned advocates for the Mangalitsa pig. They travel world-wide promoting the breed, insuring genetic diversity and gathering and sharing knowledge . Barbara recently introduced the pig to Japan! She graciously shares what she knows with others on her website www.royal-mangalitsa.com and has been the driving force for the establishment of MBOAR ~ the newly launched Mangalitsa Breed Organization and Registry. She has worked thousands of hours to establish a genetic herd book for Mangalitsa in the United States. The mission is to use baseline genetic material from the known imported Mangalitsa stock to develop a family tree for today’s current stock. As members submit the DNA of their animals with appropriate proof of lineage, parental testing for future generations will insure the welfare of the breed. Whew!
