ANIMAL WELFARE APPROVED CERTIFICATION

We are thrilled to have a 100% qualified audit score and be able to certify our Mangalitsa as Animal Welfare Approved through A Greener World. This certification guarantees that Smoky Mountain Mangalitsa is following the strictest guidelines to assure animal welfare. This includes pasture and fresh water and all of the aspects you may already know. What is also outlines is a zero tolerance for tail docking, teeth and tusk clipping and late castration. We were attracted to AWA because we “already do these things their way!” We castrate at 5- 7 days for minimal stress and maximum healing. We let these pigs be pigs and do not harm them to convenience ourselves.
